How To Help Boise Families This Holiday Season
The holiday season is upon us and for a lot of Treasure Valley families, it’s the most difficult time of the year. What’s even sadder, is that a lot of us never know or realize just how much someone close to us could be struggling. Sure, we all vent about our personal struggles now and then to our friends and coworkers, but that doesn’t mean any of us are going to share what’s really going on. Never mind the stress of the holidays and getting presents for the kids, there are people wondering how they’re going to feed their family tonight. There are people out there that have to ration their toilet paper among other essentials.
It truly is heartbreaking and that is why this season, Chris & Ryan in the Morning on Mix 106 has teamed up with CATCH, a Boise non-profit, that looks to help families and individuals rebound from homelessness for the Mix 106 Home For The Holidays drive. According to the site for CATCH, they work to provide a house before working on being self-sufficient:
By providing housing first, then working with families to address their challenges, CATCH offers a new beginning which leads to self-sufficiency in over 80% of participating families.
CATCH has been helping families bounce back since 2006 and now we’re rallying together for the holiday season to help those in need. Chris & Ryan in the Morning and Mix 106 are collecting your monetary donations and broadcasting live inside of Boise Townsquare Mall (in front of JC Penney) until Friday, December 9 from 4 PM - 7 PM. As cliché as it sounds, every little bit helps – the donations will be used to provide the following items that were requested by families and individuals for Christmas:
- Cleaning supplies
- Toilet paper
- Laundry soap
- Paper towels
- Towels –bath, hand, washcloths
- Kitchen Items – Pots & pans sets, dishes, utensils, etc.
- Sheet sets – Twin and Queen size
You can make your donation to CATCH directly here, on your Mix 106 app, and of course, in-person at Townsquare Mall until Friday, December 9th at 7 PM.
