The Sony Walkman made it's debut 35 years ago. Then it got knocked out the popular crowd by smaller music devices like iPods and MP3 players. Sony gave the Walkman a makeover and brought it back, but this is not like any music player today...or yesterday!

I loved my yellow Sony Walkman. It played all my favorite tapes! And of course it was portable....it would fit right on the side of my pants! So is the new Sony Walkman trying to compete with the iPod? Even smaller? Lighter? Not even close. It's bulkier, it cost $700 and it doesn't play MP3s. Why do you want it then? Well it can hold a lot more music. Think a full wave file with higher quality audio rather than compressed audio files. It has128 gigabytes of storage for ultra-high-quality music files. Sony says each ZX1(aka the Walkman) is manually carved from a block of expensive aluminum, which helps reduce noise. Would you give up your iPod or any other MP3 player for the ZX1?
