Before he took office, President Trump made it clear that increasing border security and ridding the country of violent criminals in the US illegally would be a top priority.

Fast-forward to today and it seems like we're getting updates about Trump's deportation operations almost daily. For some, it might feel like an unprecedented territory for the country but the truth is that deportation operations aren't anything new... especially in Idaho.

ICE Raids In Idaho

With all the talk about deportations around the country, we began to look into Idaho's history with massive deportations and came across a case from July 2010.

This particular case involved the arrest and deportation of 22 immigration violators. The operation took place over the course of three days and included two previously deported felons among the twenty-two arrested.

According to a statement from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), "six of the immigration fugitives had criminal histories ranging from drug possession, assault, theft, driving under the influence, and domestic violence."

Where Did Idaho's ICE Arrests Take Place?

The arrests took place in nine Idaho areas that included Twin Falls, Hailey, and Jerome. Eighteen of the individuals originated from Mexico with the other four coming from four different countries: Nicaragua, Honduras, Peru, and Russia.

"ICE is committed to smart and effective immigration enforcement that targets individuals who pose a threat to public safety," Idaho ICE officials said at the time of the arrest announcement.

"ICE is committed to identifying those who come to the United States, commit crimes, and blatantly disregard our nation's laws."

It will be interesting to see how the current administration operates current deportations and if we'll see massive amounts of criminals arrested in the coming years.
