There is no question that food is a universal language. Everyone needs it in some way, shape, or form, right? Some of us enjoy food so much that we won't stop until we're full. It might not be the best thing for you but hey - you have to live a little, right?

Literally and we're not talking about eating competitions where you compete against people in a race against time. We're talking about the food challenges that put you versus the food... or you versus your mind.

Before we get to some of these food challenges, we want to let you know that as a friendly waiver: these food challenges aren't for everyone.

The last thing we want to do is encourage you to try something that will have you requiring a wheelbarrow to get out of an establishment or worse, cause any health problems.

Why are we warning you? Well, it's simple: Boise is home to some of the most unforgiving food challenges out there. We found seven food challenges in the Treasure Valley that will test your stomach, your willpower, and quite possibly your waistline.

While we aren't necessarily the experts on food challenges, during our research we noticed a few things that several of these culinary gladiators do to prepare.

One of the biggest things they all have in common is that they seem to work out or put in some form of exercise before they attempt a food challenge. It makes sense but it also doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to complete a food challenge.
