Is Nampa A Better Place To Raise A Family Than Meridian?
Science ranked the top cities in the U.S. to raise a family; Boise and Nampa places on the list are interesting, but Meridian's is mind blowing.
Wallethub releases all kinds of studies about cities and states with statistics of all sorts; cost of living, livability, recreation, I mean the list goes on and on and on. In this case, they released 2021's best and worst places to raise a family. Based on family fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability and socio-economics, the best city in the country to raise a family is Overland Park, KS. I've never even heard of it! The worst on their list, ranked 182/182 is Detroit, MI. Between these extremes are Boise, which is pretty high on the list at 15, and Nampa, which is 76; not great, but out of 182, not terrible.
The disturbing find here is that Meridian didn't even make the list and I want to know why. Is it SUCH a terrible place? I don't think so. As a Meridian resident myself, I'm so glad I don't live in Detroit! But, what could it be, Wallethub? Meridian's population is larger than Nampa's so it's not like the city is "too small". Why have we been left out altogether while Boise and Meridian get all the accolades? I do find it interesting that, while only 20 miles apart, Boise and Nampa are in such drastically different places on this list. Boise did really well when it came to affordability (believe it or not) and family fun. Is Boise getting credit for Wahooz, IN MERIDIAN??? Anyway, Nampa's biggest strength is family fun and Nampa's weakness is education. Where does Meridian fall on this? Who knows? Maybe somewhere in between Boise and Nampa? At least physically!
