They looked at violent crimes like murder, aggravated assault, robbery, and rape, and decided that the most dangerous city in Idaho is four or five hours away from the Treasure Valley.

Idaho Falls gets plenty of visitors since it's close to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, and maybe that has something to do with the crime rate.  Maybe it's not necessarily the folks who live there that are up to no good, but those passing through.  Idaho Falls has a lot to offer too with shopping, art galleries and The Idaho National Laboratory as a huge employer, but this city has been named Idaho's most dangerous city, according to 247WallSt.com.

Idaho Falls doesn't have the crime rate of cities like St. Louis or Chicago or Los Angeles, but it does have a higher crime rate than any other city in Idaho.

Idaho Falls is only slightly more dangerous than the U.S. as a whole with a violent crime rate of 424 incidents per 100,000 people, compared to the country rate of 386 per 100,000. Aggravated assault accounted for most of the crimes in Idaho Falls.  The poverty rate there is low compared to crime-leading cities in other states, and the jobless rate in Idaho Falls is a low 2.8 percent.  So there are bright sides.

There are a few bad apples in any bunch, but don't you feel like Idaho is a safe place overall?  It seems like a great place to raise kids to me, and I feel safe in my house as a single mom.

Here's some even better news.  The study found that violent crime has been steadily declining across the country, and now it's about half of what it was when it peaked in 1991. Good!

It's probably not a good idea to walk through a dark alley with cash hanging out of your purse, but at least the risks are lower than they used to be.  Especially in Idaho.
