Why do people put decals/stickers on their car?

Well, for a variety of reasons, really. For some folks, decals/stickers are a means of self-expression and personalization. It's a fun way for them to signal their interests, affiliations, and beliefs to the world.

The same is true of political, social, and cultural window stickers and bumper stickers. How many times have you seen a "Let's go, Brandon" or a "Blue girl, red state" on cars around the Treasure Valley?

Car decals also serve practical uses. From causes to businesses, stickers function as mobile advertisements to promote products and services. This might seem like a stretch, but some people use stickers to distinguish their car in crowded parking lots; though maybe what they actually need are glasses or a louder car alarm.

We spotted a local billboard on wheels.

The car in the photo above was spotted at a red light headed east at the intersection of State and Eagle. As we waited for the light to change, we couldn't help but notice all of its quirky stickers. From absentmindedness to their love of REI and concern for child human trafficking, this Idahoan's car is a billboard for who they are.

And this is but one of thousands of local examples. If there's one thing Idahoans love, it's Idaho-themed decals and stickers!

Is there a limit to how many decals/stickers you can have on your car?

Surprisingly, no. But the Gem State does regulate where citizens can position them. According to Chapter 9, Vehicle Equipment of the Idaho State Legislature, windshields are to remain unobstructed (and equipped with functioning wipers, of course).

No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, or other nontransparent material upon the front windshield, side wings, or side or rear windows of the vehicle which obstructs the driver’s clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway.
In short, the only time decals/stickers become a legal issue is when window they compromise a driver's view of the road or other motorists. Apart from that, Idahoans are free to adorn and accessorize their cars to their own liking.

If Idaho Cities Were Cars, What Would They Be?

We absolutely love it when the internet shines a little light on Idaho. Many people, it seems, can tend to forget that we exist and when we are acknowledged, it seems that there is always an entertaining insight into just WHAT exactly the outsiders think of the place we call home.
A video that is posted up on TikTok has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of users and we have to admit--this feels pretty spot on.
