Let's be honest, this isn't a topic that everyone loves to talk about but when it comes to your health you need to take this information seriously. Our friends at KTVB have recently informed us about experts in our state are trying to understand what is causing the increase in Sexually Transmitted Diseases around the state of Idaho.
To put things in perspective last year there was around 6,600 STD cases, which was up 300 cases from what was reported in 2016. STD cases are up across the nation, including 2.3 million cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis being diagnosed in 2017. The most prevalent STD's in the nation and in Idaho are gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Getting more details from state health officials hearing that in some parts of the state gonorrhea cases have fallen as much as 14% although in other areas around the state those numbers have jumped over 200%. The most important thing to remember is that these numbers are on the rise both here in our state and across the nation. Please use whatever preventive measures you feel comfortable with to steer clear of STD's. And if you think you might have become infected please contact your doctor immediately.
