Can We Skip Spring and Get to Summer?
I took a walk along the Greenbelt today, and call me crazy, but I would be willing to skip this middle-ground season of Spring and move right to Summer. Let's get on the water.
It's amazing to see the difference in the Boise River flow over just the last few weeks. Here's a peek at early last month (first pic) and today (second).
It's quite a chance in the appearance, and the water is definitely cold and moving quickly, but it does make me eager for summer to arrive so we can blow up our rafts and tubes and hit the water.
One of the best perks of Boise is having a river that supports recreations going right through our city. It's been fun having family and friends in town who hadn't experienced the relaxation that comes with a little over two hours on the river.
Last year, with the unusually and record-setting high water levels, it took some extra time for float season to open up (after the proper safety preparations, necessary repairs, and appropriate water levels all allowed for recreational use). This year, I know there are many of us counting down to summer, and hopefully, a June opening of the season.
While the weather today would make it quite a cold endeavor, I just can't help but look forward to what lies ahead.
