BSU Football Alum Alexander Mattison Returns to Town for a Special Cause
Former Boise State football standout turned NFL pro, Alexander Mattison will be back in town soon and it's for a great cause. He'll be doing an exclusive pop-up show of his clothing line, I AM GIFTED in Meridian.
During Mattison's time at BSU, a part from scoring touchdowns and being a scholar athlete, he also became increasingly passionate about suicide prevention and raising awareness for mental health. In 2017, Tyler Hilinksi who was an opponent playing backup QB at the time at Washington State, lost his life to suicide. Although Mattison did not personally know Hilinksi he was still deeply moved by his tragedy.
In 2019 Mattison was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round. His stardom in the NFL provided him with a unique platform as well as the tools needed to better support friends and family members suffering from and battling with mental illness. After his rookie season in the league, Mattison launched his own brand called I AM GIFTED.
"Everyone was born with a gift," Mattison said in a report by the Minnesota Vikings. "Find it. Embrace it. Use it to shed light into this world! Life is what you make of it – so what are you going to make of it?"
Mattison's pop-up show will be at Settlers Park from 8am-1pm on March 20th and the 21st. Every purchase made is entered for a chance to win an autographed jersey. According to the Viking's report, Mattison plans to dedicate proceeds of the sales from his foundation to suicide prevention, as well as to support youth causes and military veterans experiencing homelessness.
