Boise’s Polar Bear Challenge Helps Charity
People who take that polar plunge each year are amazing!
While many of us were sitting by a cozy fire on New Year's Day, the tough ones were taking a dip in ice cold water in a Boise reservoir and got chilled for a cause.
The Idaho Make-A-Wish Foundation organized the annual Polar Bear Challenge at Lucky Peak Marina on Sunday, with the goal of raising $35,000. Each person that took the plunge was asked to raise $50, and the Make-a-Wish money goes to grant wishes for kids with life-threatening conditions all year long.
Were you part of it? I admire your guts! When I take the kids to the swimming pool in the summer it has to be at least 92 outside with no wind before I'll jump in, and it wasn't quite 92 yesterday. You are a better person than me.
If you missed it, there will be plenty more opportunities to be cold this winter in Boise. Happy New Year.
