Today til 5pm you have the chance to meet some guys who are pretty swift with a skate board, and get some autographs.

Boise's new skate park has been in the works for a long time, and today is the day it all pays off.

Rhodes Skate Park is having its grand opening today at 1555 Front Street in Boise, under the connector.  Boise Weekly says Element’s pro skateboard team is here to host a skate jam with prizes, plus they'll hold demo and the skaters will be signing some autographs.  It's underway now and runs until 5pm.

The skate park was the idea of former Ada County Commissioner Glenn Rhodes, who wanted kids to have a place to skate after being run off by downtown businesses.  The City says local kids were involved in the design and build process too.  It's located between 15th and 16th streets under the I-184 connector, and the ramps and concrete dips are the work of careful planning, some city funds, and lots of donations and volunteer hours.

See how all the hard work has paid off at the grand opening today til 5pm.  It's free!
