Boise Teen Creates a New Recipe to Help the Homeless
A Boise teen has come up with a new recipe involving chicken and cheese that sounds pretty awesome, and she did it to help our homeless population. It makes a batch big enough to serve a huge crowd, so you may want to try it too at your next big event too.
The Interfaith Sanctuary says 15-year old Maloree Barbera created the Meal-in-a-Cup recipe after thinking about ways to help those at the shelter have a hot meal that's convenient and nutritious. She's getting the whole meal into one cup - protein, veggies, and creamy goodness.
The recipe calls for chicken, corn, potatoes, cream cheese, sour cream, grated cheese, and chicken stock, and it's layered into the cup. Marloree says the recipe makes about 60 cups, and you can get the whole recipe on the Interfaith Sanctuary website. She served it up recently with her younger brother, and they would love to inspire all of us to come up with our own unique recipes to help the shelter provide meals.
The Interfaith Sanctuary opens up the opportunity to all of us to pick a weekend night and provide as many as 200 meals to the crowds that come through the shelter. Church groups, youth clubs, and cool teens like Maloree are adopting meal nights and providing great food, and if you want to do the same thing just contact the shelter (april@interfaithsanctuary.org).
They've got an "urgent need" for protein-rich meals this month and they would love it if you followed in Maloree's footsteps and chipped in some time to provide it. Nice work Maloree! Thanks for the inspiration.
