Students and parents were not happy about Boise State's plan to limit graduates to five tickets to watch the ceremony May 5th, and the school heard that loud and clear.  They've changed the plan, and instead of one ceremony with the 5-ticket limit, the university will hold two ceremonies to accommodate everyone.

Boise State made the decision to take the weather factor out of the equation on graduation day, and move the ceremony from Albertsons Stadium back to Taco Bell Arena this year.  With that came the 5-ticket limit for each graduate since Taco Bell Arena is a smaller venue.

If you were graduating, would you have more than five people that would want to be there to watch and support you?  Parents, grandparents, boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, and kids can add up fast, and even though there was an overflow plan that would let everyone watch from the student union building, students weren't having it.  The complaints about the plan filtered in and the pressure caused the university to add a second ceremony and get rid of the ticket limit.

The Idaho Statesman says the first ceremony on May 5th will be held at 9:30 a.m. for graduates from the schools of Business and Economics and Engineering and Health Sciences.. The second ceremony will start at 3:30 p.m. for graduates from the College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences and School of Public Service.

And if one start time works better than the other, graduates can work with the registrar's office to attend that ceremony regardless of the home college.

The ceremonies will have different speakers, and both ceremonies will stream at BoiseState.edu.

Glad that worked out for you, grads.  Good luck with the tests and papers that are coming this spring, and we'll be ready to celebrate with ya on May 5th.
