Boise Native Returns From A 6-month Navy Assignment

The pandemic has put a stop to many things, but not military deployments.  One Boise native recently returned from a successful deployment in the U.S. Navy.

The Navy Office of Community Outreach tells us that Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Ethan Boehm from Boise (pictured on the left) spent the last six months on an assignment in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.

Ethan returned to the Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego on July 9th.  He's pictured aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt as it made its return.  U.S. Navy Aviation Ordnanceman 3rd Class Adrian Gomez is pictured on the right and he's from Beaumont, California.

My dad is a U.S. Navy veteran, so that type of service always gets my attention and he loves seeing pictures of the next generation of service members too.  Oh, and Pop is excited about the new Navy-based movie!

Greyhound stars Tom Hanks, and it's based on the 1955 novel "The Good Shepherd" by C. S. Forester.  It's about a Navy Commander on his first war-time assignment in WW II.  He's in charge of defending a merchant ship convoy under attack by submarines in early 1942 during the Battle of the Atlantic that came right after the U.S. entered the war.  It was originally supposed to be out on June 12 but was delayed because of the pandemic and Apple TV+ released it last week.
