Schools across the Treasure Valley and the entire state of Idaho are back in session. Lots of kids eager to learn although that is impossible if they don't have nutritious food to eat. Thousands of kids here in Idaho get free or reduced cost meals when at school, but what about on the weekends? That's why Mix 106 does the Backpack Buddies radiothon each year to support the Idaho Foodbank.

The Backpack Buddies program provides two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and two snacks for kids that are in need of food at home. This program continues to see improvement as over the years the staff has worked hard to choose foods that kids love and don't require cooking.

To put things in perspective over 63,140 backpacks were distributed statewide last school year, that means 2,872 children were served nutritious food. There were 157 schools that participated in the program with over 200 kids still on the program waiting list.

You can sign up to support the Backpack Buddies Program, with only $25 per month helping another kids in our area have food to eat. Click here to sign up online, and we would love for you to make this a reoccurring gift if that is an option for you.

On Friday, we will have our phone bank open ready to take you donations, please call 208-275-8806.

Make sure you join us all day on Friday (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as we raise money for kids here in Idaho and give away some great prizes throughout the day to encourage you to donate more!
