A New Idaho Power Scam Alert

This is a new, local scam you'll want to be aware of.

Idaho Power posted on their Facebook Page:

Attention Idaho Power business customers: A new scam is afoot. People posing as Idaho Power are calling and demanding power bill payment over the phone.

Please remember that will we never demand payment over the phone. When in doubt, hang up and call Idaho Power directly at 208-388-2323 or 1-800-488-6151.

I hate these phone scams! Most people wouldn't think twice about a utility company calling about a past due bill. Maybe you share the bill paying responsibility with your spouse, roommate, and significant other and thought "they must have forgotten. I'll take care of it now".

If anyone calls YOU and asks for a payment or personal information, hang up and call them back directly on a phone number that you know to be accurate and correct.
