Scary stuff! A Boise couple found a rabid bat in their backyard and now their pet cat is under quarantine to make sure it didn't catch the disease.

The homeowner was watering his garden when he saw the small bat on the ground. He and his wife got it into a bag without touching it and took it to the Humane Society to have it tested for rabies.

The Humane Society sent the bat to the state veterinary lab, where it tested positive for rabies. For safety precautions, the family's pet cat will be kept away from all other people and animals for 45 days.

Health officials say bats are the main source of rabies exposure in Idaho.
