If you love animals, have a passion for teaching others, and are looking for a way to make some extra cash this summer then Zoo Boise has the prefect job for you!

Zoo Boise is hiring a summer camp instructor who will implement and actively participate in education programs that are imaginative, fun, hands-on, and animal
focused for children in grades PreK7 for groups of 10-20 children.

Some of the job responsibilities of a summer camp instructor include:

  • Implement pre-written lesson plans by delivering a creative, interactive, age-appropriate learning experience
  • Utilize the zoo and the surrounding park to introduce campers to animals and nature through science projects, art, games, exploration and observation.
  • Prepare classroom, teaching materials & supplies and clean-up of pre-developed program activities.

The good news is that you don't have to be a certified zoologist or anything like that as there are actually minimal qualifications and experience required for such a fun summer job. There are some preferences though.

This job is ideal for someone who is pursuing (or has received a degree) in education, natural sciences or related field. If you have experience teaching informal classes or in a zoo/nature center/museum/camp environment, then that's a bonus as well! The deadline to apply is May 14th, 2021.

If you're more interested in having your children actually attend one of these camps, Zoo Boise has several different summer camps that appeal to kids of all interests. Cost per camp is $215 for full-day and $110 for half-day. Zoo members can register for a discount price.
