Thursday, October 4th might as well be a national holiday as we celebrate National Taco Day! Last year in the United States more than 4.5 billion tacos were devoured, which equals 490,000 miles of tacos. There is something amazing about how simple tacos can be, yet they are a comfort food for so many of us.
The word taco is the Mexican equivalent to the English word sandwich according to nationaltacoday.com. The tortilla which can be made of corn or flour (traditionally it's corn) is wrapped around marinated meat like beef, pork or fish. Lets be honest, tacos are like chips you can't just have one!
For National Taco Day you're encouraged to eat tacos all day with all the various toppings of your choosing. Salsa, cilantro, avocado or guacamole, tomatoes, and lettuce pile on the toppings upon your tortilla and taste the amazing flavor combinations!
