Local Man Dies After Crashing Into Freight Train In Kuna
Fatal Train Crash at Kuna-Mora Road
Kuna, Idaho. The Idaho State Journal and Kuna Melba News Staff reports an investigation by the Ada County's Sheriff's Office is underway after a local man was involved in a fatal car crash on Tuesday, Jan. 17 this week.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. at the railway crossing at the intersection of Kuna-Mora Road. ASCO investigators confirmed the driver of the SUV had been driving south when he crossed the tracks occupied by a freight train traveling west.

Emergency crews were able to extract the local man from the totaled SUV. Paramedics immediately attempted life-saving interventions, but the man was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to statistics from the Federal Railroad Administration in 2021, 2,145 highway-rail grade crossing collisions were reported nationwide. Among the collisions, 234 were crossing fatalities and 669 were categorized as "crossing injuries."
