I love thrift shopping. I actually think that I prefer it over "regular" shopping for a couple different reasons. For me, there's not a better feeling than finding the perfect pair of worn-in, high-waisted Levi's jeans for on the low! Whenever I'm forced to put real pants on, usually I'm throwing on a pair of vintage Levi's. The brand itself is actually taking part in the secondhand initiative and it's pretty exciting news.

Levi’s SecondHand is a buy-back program where you can shop secondhand jeans and jackets directly from Levi's. You can also turn in your own jeans and jackets in Levi's stores and receive a gift card for future purchases. The gift card amount will depend on the quality of your clothing. All Levi’s SecondHand items will be available for purchase on the SecondHand marketplace ranging from roughly $30 to $100.

The main purpose of the SecondHand buy-back program is to combat climate change. Fast fashion (and fashion in general) has faced criticism for it's harmful effects on the environment. Sustainability has become a top priority in the industry. “Repurposing and repairing clothes requires minimal additional energy input, no water, and no dyes to make more jeans,” said Jennifer Sey, Levi’s chief marketing officer. “Buying a used pair of Levi’s through SecondHand saves approximately 80% of the CO2 emissions and 700 grams of waste compared to buying a new pair of Levi’s.”

Hopefully this narrows down your search for the perfect pair of worn-in Levi's. I know this definitely benefits Levi's because personally I would never spend $180 on a pair of jeans when I know I can find a really similar pair at a thrift shop somewhere for less than half that price. It only takes a little hunting and searching.
