Read This Before You Buy a Pineapple
Over the weekend I was at a party and heard the oddest thing about shopping for fruit in the Treasure Valley.
Apparently, if you are in the grocery store and put a pineapple upside down in your shopping cart, it means you are into “extracurricular activities outside of marriage.” Not only that, but if you put a pineapple on your front porch like a jack-o-lantern, it means that you’re into such activities at your place, right then and there.
I was slightly alarmed by this revelation.
I have been known to buy a pineapple on occasion. And as anybody who has shopped with a kid before, you know you sometimes toss your items into the shopping cart haphazardly. It’s very possible my pineapple has landed upside down in my shopping cart and I didn't even know it.
What message am I sending with my produce to the other shoppers?! And more importantly, how come nobody has ever approached me?
Is this a real thing in the Treasure Valley or just an urban legend?
