Another one bites the dust. Seriously the last thing we have left during the pandemic is stuffing our faces! But small businesses have been struggling to stay afloat during these ridiculous times. This time it's Sun Ray Cafe' in Hyde Park. At the very least the closure isn't forever. The home page of their website explains:

DUE TO THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE WILL BE CLOSED NOW THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR.THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT AND PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES ON WHEN SUN RAY CAFE WILL REOPEN IN 2021

One thing I know from being married to a man who works in restaurants is that winter months tend to be slower. People are staying home more to avoid the cold and save their money for the holidays. The pandemic has people staying home in record numbers, so keeping a restaurant open now is harder than ever.

Sun Ray's closure started Monday 12/14/20. Although there is no word on the exact re-opening per their statement, they are having a bit of fun with it in the interim. If you drive by you can see their marquee boasting the popular phrase "Stick a fork in us," of course indicating they are done (for now).

I guess we'll just have to daydream about their menu for now. I've already spent fifteen minutes on their Instagram account looking at food. Bonus, there's a TON of cutie dog pics to warm your heart on there too! Click here to get your fix of plates and pups. See you next year, Sun Ray Cafe'!
