Out of the Darkness Community Walk for Suicide and Mental Illness Awareness
The Treasure Valley Area Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place on Saturday, October 29 at Kleiner Park in Meridian. It is a journey of remembrance to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. Registration begins at 8:30am and the walk will start at 10:00am.
Since the walk is right around Halloween, community partner tables will be passing out candy and children are encouraged to dress in costume.
Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the event. With a $10 donation, you can pick up an AFSP Pooch bandana at the Paws for Prevention Tent.
Bring photos of your loved one to plant in our Memory Garden. There will be markers and tape to help decorate.
Wear honor beads to show your personal connection to the cause. Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.
