Orange Air Quality Alert Issued for the Treasure Valley
There is no doubt whatsoever about how HOT it is in the Treasure Valley. These triple digit days are no joke! I spent two hours outside yesterday at an event in Caldwell and thought I was going to pass out.
Air quality is just as important. An Orange Air Quality Alert was issued today by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. Orange Alert means that air quality levels are unhealthy for some people who are more sensitive, such as those with asthma or the elderly. These people should limit time outside or over exerting themselves outdoors. Smoke from wildfires around the region continue to fill the area with smoke and haze, which is absolutely no help.
The Department of Environmental Quality has also issued a Stage 1 Forecast and Caution for Ada, Canyon and Elmore County, prohibiting all open burning. You can help by not using fireplaces and wood stoves, and limit driving unless necessary.
Be careful out there and stay hydrated! Don't spend a lot of time outside if you don't have to in this heat, especially with the kids or elderly.
