More Marijuana Busts Across Idaho
It's probably not a big surprise, with our neighboring states legalizing recreational marijuana use, but Idaho marijuana busts are up more than one-thousand percent.
While our neighboring states of Washington and Oregon are seeing the tax income benefit of the legalization of marijuana, the fact that it's still illegal in Idaho is proving to cost the Idaho State Police time in both training and increased seizures and time spent on enforcement.
ISP says they are working to educate both their own officers, and also the public both inside the state and visiting. In the last four years, the amount of marijuana seized inside the state has gone from 131 pounds in 2011 to 1650 pounds in 2015.
One of the biggest misconceptions seems to be from people who are traveling to Idaho from states where it's legal and assume since they are citizens of that state they are clear to posses in Idaho. They quickly learn that is not the case.
