Labor Day Weekend Sales: What to Buy and What to Skip
If your email inbox is anything like mine, it's crammed with Labor Day sale offerings. How do we know which sales are really the good ones?
The experts say it's not the best time to buy flat screen TVs and home theater systems, because we're right at the beginning of football season and that's the time most people start investing in new gear for living rooms and media rooms. Prices won't be slashed and we won't find the best sales on the 57-inch screens or surround sound. But the stores will have good deals on other electronics like laptops, that are on the downhill slope after all the back-to-school shopping.
It's not the time to buy gas grills either. October and November will be better times to invest in grills and Big Green Eggs, since the weather will be cooler and it won't be prime grilling season. Prices will drop off. Labor Day Weekend is huge for grilling - right up there with the 4th of July - so stores don't have to offer rock bottom prices to move the merch now. Lawn mowers and trimmers and patio furniture should be deeply discounted this weekend though. If you're like me and you fought with the lawn mower and cussed it all summer long, now is the time to kick it to the curb and get a new one.
Labor Day Weekend is also a great time to buy cars and mattresses.
While others are camping and vacationing in tropical spots and taking fun road trips this weekend, we'll shop! And then park it on our brand new patio furniture and relax.
Have a great weekend.
