Fact: it's 100% legal, kosher, and groovy to marry your cousin in 2024 Idaho. Your second cousin, to be precise. Now, before you raise your brow at Gem State lawmakers, you should know it's legal to marry your first cousin in 26 other states.

This is where Idaho claims the moral high ground (and we start breathing in and out again). Marriage between first cousins in Idaho is absolutely prohibited.

So we're all on the same page: first cousins are ones you share grandparents with, whereas second cousins are ones you share great-grandparents with, not grandparents.

Marrying your great-grandparents' great-grandchild isn't illegal, but that doesn't mean it isn't gross or weird.
