Idaho Named One Of Either The Best States For Tipping Or The Worst

Regardless of what state you're in, in America, it's common practice to tip 20% when you're at a restaurant. However, that's not always the way we tip.

There can be several factors that come into play when tipping. How was your service? How was the food? How was the overall experience? Or, sometimes the state you're in can depend how good of a tipper you are.

Servers and bartenders often depend on your tips, so it's a big deal to compensate them fairly. Personally, I'll rarely go under 20%, even if the service was poor or the meal didn't meet my expectations.

Tipping etiquette has been a major debate in America for a long time. In other countries, they don't accept tips. Here, they're expected and a big deal to making rent for these employees.

Upgraded Points just released a new report of the states that tip the most and the states that tip the least. After examining the list, I noticed Idaho appeared on it. Is that a good thing or bad thing?

To make this report, Upgraded Points surveyed 3,500 people across the country for seven days. They asked participants in the survey questions regarding their tipping habits feelings towards it to figure out which states tip the most and the least.

Some states weren't included in the survey due to a lack of response. Those states include: Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming. Notice what's missing? That's right Idaho was included in the survey.

Seeing as our state fell so low on the list, it's time to take action. We don't want to be there when this report comes out again in 2023. So, what do we need to do?

We could all agree to be kinder and tip well no matter what. However, that just encourages poor service. We don't want that. Something we could do, however, is implement a mandatory tip. Taking away our option.

I don't think this solution solves everything, but it is currently being discussed as an option.
