CFK: bridging the digital gap for kids in ID, UT, WA & OR
Wouldn't it be amazing if every kid had the laptop they needed for school regardless of their family's income? Computers for Kids sure thinks so! Computers for Kids, Inc. (CFK) is a Pacific Northwest nonprofit based in Boise bridging the digital gap for kids in Idaho, Utah Washington, and Oregon.
Their mission is simple: level the educational playing field and close the "digital divide" between kids with easy access to tech and those without Who doesn't love that?
Since 2001, the registered Microsoft Refurbisher has given over 50,000 donated and fully refurbished computers with the latest software to students and regional nonprofits.
Technological literacy is a big deal.
Today, teaching our K-12 kids technological literacy is as important as reading, writing, math, and science. Technology is intertwined with just about everything in the 21st century. It's the cornerstone of modern education, from online research and digital assignments to virtual classrooms and coding projects.
Beyond the classroom, research from the National Institute for Health reports that digital fluency helps kids develop critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and even social skills—all of which play enormous roles in their future success.
Familiarizing our youth with technology can also spark their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), leading to cool and exciting career opportunities that can provide them with solid financial security sooner rather than later.
Laptops empower students!
For today's K-12 students, having a laptop and the internet at home is a major game-changer! It opens up worlds of information and resources that can enhance their learning experience and academic career—an opportunity every kid deserves!
The start of the 2024-2025 school year is just a few weeks away, Mom and Dad! Need a laptop for your K-12 student? Click here to fill out the Computers for Kids application.
