Trouble Brewing: Meridian Fire Threatens Eagle Road Starbucks
Whether you're all about Starbucks or you've become a Dutch Bros fan, the fact that expensive coffee is available on almost every corner of the Treasure Valley is a beautiful thing for Idaho coffee lovers. Today, coffee lovers in South Meridian had a big scare.
The equipment landscapers used to cut the high grass in the empty field next to Starbucks at Eagle and Victory Road caused a brush fire around 2 this afternoon. The fire quickly spread through the field. The Boise, Meridian, and Kuna Fire Departments quickly responded and contained the fire before it could reach the nearby apartment complex, assisted living facility, or popular coffee outlet.
High flames could be seen towering over the Starbucks building, and from Eagle Road, it almost appeared that the coffee shop was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire and no buildings were hurt.
Pictures of the fire are stunning and highlight that the Ada County Computer Aided Dispatch was proactively taken down yesterday due to suspicious activity. The Meridian Fire Department told KTVB that this only slightly affected the response time to this particular fire.
Now that everyone's favorite 10-dollar coffee is safe, Ada County can work with third-party cybersecurity companies to restore their communications system. Until then, dispatchers will have to use backup systems to send help where it needs to go. According to an Ada County press release, the non-emergency and 911 lines are not impacted by this situation.
