The details were just released by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development saying a Nampa homeowner agreed to pay $15,000 after violating the Fair Housing Act. KBOI was first to report the details in which the money will go to a family of nine after bring refused the rental due to the size of their family.

The statement released states that the family was attempting to rent a large four-bedroom home, but was refused after the homeowner found out the family includes seven kids under the age of 18.

While the homeowners never admitted fault, they have since hired a property management company and underwent housing training.

Federal rules make it illegal from any homeowner to deny or limit housing because a family has children. This includes making discriminating statements or imposing different rules for those families with children.

The initial complaint was made by the family back in May.
