Cows vs. People

92 million—that's how many dairy cows live in the good ole U.S. of A. as of 2022. Of that number, a whopping 2.2 million live and graze in Gem State pastures. When compared to Idaho's human population, the World Animal Foundation reports Idaho's cow-to-people ratio is 1 to 36.

This means that for every one human, there are 1.36 cows. Put another way, they have Idahoans by 600,000 in numbers. When we start talking about cow power, that's an additional 2.2 million hooves for a staggering total of 4.4 million hooves. If all of them had udders, they would have 4.8 million to bring to the fight.

The Dark Side of Dairy Cows

Many associate cows with fresh milk, petting zoos, and the quaint pleasantries of ranch life. But there's a dark side of dairy cows they don't want you to know about. According to PetKeen, "While most cows are mellow animals, in certain circumstances, cows can show aggression towards humans and are responsible for about 20 human deaths per year in the U.S."

If cows kill 20 humans per year at the national level, imagine what would happen if the cattle cartel got organized and rebelled in Idaho?

When face-to-face with a human they have a beef with, cows are known to kick, head-butt, and make aggressive advances. Because of these factors, it's recommended that humans maintain a distance whenever possible and remain vigilant.

Suffice it to say you can only milk a cow for so long before you're left holding the pail.
