Popular Activity Could Get Land Boise River Floaters In Jail
Every summer, countless families flock to the Boise River for fun in the sun. With inflatables in tow and sunscreen pasted on their skin, it's a tradition that keeps people coming back year after year. But beware! One common mistake could turn your fun, relaxing float into a legal nightmare!
While most people follow the rules, one law is constantly broken on the Boise River. And it's the one that could cost you serious money. It's a misdemeanor offense that could land you in jail for up to six months and drain your bank account by $1,000.
That illegal activity is drinking alcohol on the river. With so many people openly drinking, you'd never know that this is an illegal activity. Still, the city of Boise has made it clear: Booze is a no-no on the Boise River.
When we reached out to Ada County Parks and Waterways, Boise Parks and Recreation, and the Boise Fire Department about the exact consequences, they seemed a bit uncertain. Probably because they rarely enforce this law, but do you really want to risk it?
Imagine spending your summer in a jail cell instead of going to work every day. Okay, that doesn't sound so bad but imagine spending the summer in jail instead of dealing with your kids and their friends constantly destroying your house all summer. Again, that's a bad example. Imagine spending the summer in jail instead of sitting by the pool sipping margaritas with your friends. You may want to play it safe and leave the alcohol at home when you float the Boise River this year.
