Chobani CEO Donates $20,000 to Anne Frank Memorial

On Human Rights Day, Hamdi Ulukaya, the founder and CEO of Chobani Yogurt, shared on his LinkedIn page that he will be donating $20,000 to the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights to help clean away hate from the Anne Frank Memorial. He is urging others to also "be the Light this Hanukkah and stand against hatred."

Boise, Idaho made national headline news twice in one week and not for the best reasons. On Thursday, it was because of nine swastika stickers that were found on the one and only Anne Frank memorial in the United States. Stickers with swastikas and the words "We are everywhere" were found taped to the diary and more were stuck to a statue representing the “spiral of injustice."

Boise Mayor McLean spoke on the incident saying, "I want to make this incredibly clear: The vandalism at the Anne Frank Memorial is reprehensible," She continued, "It is an affront to all that  we are, the values we hold dear, to the memories of so many people in this community and this country who fought against that very topic, and of course, and of course to the people in this community who it targets."

I was so disgusted when I first heard this news and saw the pictures. There's absolutely no room for such hateful energy in this community or any other community for that matter! Ulukaya also wrote in his post as Anne Frank teaches us, "how wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
