Children’s Books About Idaho Perfect For Your Tater Tot
I Reading to your child at a young age is paramount to their success. And as a mom of a 4 year old who will be sending him to pre-school this year, I've been focusing on not only reading to him but also helping him recognize letters of the alphabet. And I found an absolutely charming book called P is for Potato: An Idaho Alphabet. Yes, it's a cutie book that uses Idaho specific things to teach the alphabet. So I figured I would look up more children's books with an Idaho theme:
Would you believe it, there is a Good Night Idaho! We grew up with Good Night Moon, but now your kid can delay going to bed by saying good night to the Boise River Greenbelt, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, and even Zoo Boise.
A While Ago in Idaho is "An illustrated exploration of the state of Idaho's lesser known history for children, guided by Belmont Beaver." Ummm, what? There's a cool little mascot leading the tour of knowledge? Here for it.
I is for Idaho is another alphabet book using the Idaho theme to introduce letters. And I'm glad I have a little one perfect for these kinds of books because they're informative while being simple. Bet you'll learn something you didn't once you hit 'X' and 'Z.'
But The Skydiving Beavers: A True Tale is perhaps the coolest book of all. If you don't know the history on what beavers were doing in Idaho post World War II, then you might want to get this for yourself too because it has cool illustrations to accompany the unbelievably true story.
You can find all of these on Google Books.
