The bane of my existence is the ridiculous set of boobs I'm burdened with carrying on my chest every day. The moment I turned 14, these tatas sprouted overnight. By the time I graduated high school I was sporting a 36DDD/F. And while the size exists, it was often difficult to find one in stock. Basically like finding a golden ticket in a Wonka chocolate bar. And even then, all breasts are shaped differently. So there's no guarantee you'll find one that actually fits the way it should.

I worked at Frederick's of Hollywood years ago and after a ton of trial and error I found a few bras that supported the twins just right. But because life can never be easy, Frederick's closed all its stores and discontinued the style of bra that worked for me. So even though you can still order online, the bra I need no longer exists. As a result, I've spent the last 5 years struggling in Victoria's Secret bras. Anyone who knows me can attest that I spend an exorbitant amount of time adjusting my boobs and bra throughout the day.

My story is not unique in the slightest. Millions of women struggle to find the proper bra that provides comfort, support, and style. There are just so many factors: shape, weight gain/loss, pregnancy, age/droopage. AAAAHHH! But those many years ago when I was successful at finding a bra, it came down to having a bra specialist fit me for the right one. In fact, I used to be a bra specialist myself. We had very specific training for it. But like many hair stylists can't do their own hair, I can't fit myself to save my life.

The ladies at Victoria's Secret and Lane Bryant go through a similar training to help customers, but Covid-19 has prevented that whole process for nearly a year. After doing a little research I stumbled upon the Boise Bra Lady, a rep for Essential Bodywear, which carries bras ranging in sizes from 32A-44I.

It reminds me of Scentsy or Mary Kay, in that you are encouraged to host parties and become a representative yourself for their bras and other undergarments. That's a hard pass for me. Been there, done that. But what is offered that is of interest is a fitting with a professional certified bra stylist who will fit you in the comfort of your own home.

The service is free, which is cool. But they will have samples for you to try on. And if living life as a consumer has taught me anything, you'll likely be encouraged into selecting items for purchase at that time. But you don't have to. You can make that decision at a later time and use their website to make purchases. Your specialist will even make a follow-up visit free of charge once you receive your order to make any adjustments necessary. That's also a great opportunity for them to encourage you to host a party. I always crumble in those situations and throw the damn party. So beware if that's not what you're into.

Virtual fittings are also available, but my guess is there's a little more error with those. Click here for more information on booking with Boise Bra Lady, Lisa Atkinson. And may the odds be ever in our favor as we try to contain these puppies while making them look good in our clothes.
