Boise Should Let People Pay Parking Fines with School Supplies
We all know how truly lucky we are to live in the Treasure Valley, it's why we are seeing so many people move here. And although many people enjoy Boise and the surrounding areas the way they are, I believe we should be just a bit more like Las Vegas.
Yes, it sounds weird to say that but it really comes down to one thing. In Las Vegas for the next few weeks instead of paying cash for unpaid parking tickets, law enforcement is allowing offenders to drop off school supplies to be divided up among teachers before the school year begins.
Items accepted are: pencils, pens, erasers, dry erase markers, index cards, paper towels, copy paper, rulers, scissors, and Post-it Notes. All donations must be made within 30 days of the citation being written.
The city council in Vegas has had trial runs on this program since July of 2016 but it looks like this might become a regular occurrence in the summertime to help teachers in the area. It seems like a terrific idea and I would love to see it in Boise and the surrounding areas.
