Boise Held First Sailing Camp for Kids
In the Treasure Valley getting outdoors and enjoying activities are something that we all enjoy. That is why it is so exciting to hear of a new youth sailing camp was put together to teach kids another fun outdoor activity.
According to KIVI, the Southern Idaho Sailing Association and Boise Parks and Recreation have been working to put on a camp like this for two years. With the boats being so expensive it was difficult but they made it happen and want to host even more camps next summer to invite more kids to have fun on the water.
The kids in attendance learned how to rig sailboats and get them out of the water. They learned how to self-rescue in case their boats flipped over, and most importantly they learned how to use the wind to sail around Arrowrock Reservoir.
They are already fundraising for next summer, and they will host a community event on August 22nd at Spring Shores Marina.
