Bogus Basin Opens with Free Skiing Today

Skiers and snowboarders rejoice! Thanks to a little snowmaking, Bogus Basin is officially open today and they are offering FREE entry!

According to KTVB, this is the earliest opening in the mountain's history! With the snowmaking machine, the snow is about two feet deep for the terrain park.

If you are curious about how it all works, the snowmaking machine is a $6 million dollar piece of equipment that takes water from the retention pond at Bogus Basin and turns it into snow!

Bogus Basin has already used 3 million gallons of water to make the snow but there is plenty left with 10 million gallons left in reserve.

The Explorer Surface Lift will be open every Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.and the terrain park will cost $15 after today, plus it's always free for season pass holders. Go hit the slopes!
