I was talking to a friend of mine last night about Halloween plans and trick-or-treating with the kids. She has a 10-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son. She said that her daughter was going to be trick-or-treating with a few of her friends and they were going alone. As in, without an adult. I was shocked! Is 10 too young to be going to door to door without supervision??

I grew up with a very cautious and over-protective mother who didn't let us trick-or-treat alone until we were old enough to NOT do it anymore. Even if you live in a quiet, low traffic area, the world is so different from when we were kids.

What age do you think is appropriate for kids to trick-or-treat without an adult? Are there specific hours that would acceptable?
