Idahoans aren't the new kids on the block.

Despite what you might've heard, Idaho wasn't born yesterday. You won't find it in the Midwest. It's not in Iowa, related to Iowa, or dating Iowa's promiscuous little sister, Illinois, either.

What we can tell you, is there's a whole lot more to the beautiful Gem State than our delicious tubers (with magical superpowers) and surplus of bizarre Airbnbs.

The Gem State: delicious, weird & owning it

Are we proud of our potato-growin' dirt cowboys and Idaho agriculture across the board? Yes. Do we chance losing our fingers and toes to frostbite every December to watch an 8x15x10-foot, 3,000 lb potato drop from a crane each year? Also yes.

Still, we're pretty amused with ourselves, our quirks, and our ride-or-die affinity for the 2nd Amendment a significant portion of the county can't stand. #Merica

We know we're weird. We also know what people think of us, and we catch every withering, side-eye glance outsiders cast our way. And you know what? S'all good, homie.

Fact: every season is flip-flop season in Idaho

The differences between us and "the others" can be summed up in our flip-flop philosophies: they think flip-flops are just for the beach, Idahoans think they're all-weather, wedding-appropriate foot apparel.

PS, even though wearing flannel in excess, over-correcting transplants when they pronounce it "SHIN-den," not "CHIN-den, our fascination with Eagle's Tesla-truck-driving, Straight Pride Guy, and the Treasure Valley's unfounded and general dislike of Fruitland aren't mentioned, you should know they're a thing, too.
