"Why are the Kardashians famous in the first place?" It's a question we've all said out loud at least once or twice. Here's my unpopular opinion on the Kardashians: They deserve every ounce of fame they have because they know how to capitalize on opportunity better than anyone else.

There's no public relations textbook in the world that can explain how the Kardashians positioned themselves so well to be world's biggest socialites. I'm pretty sure though that Kris Jenner would be able to write one some day. What most people don't know is that at a certain point early in their careers, reaching this level of fame became very strategic.

Let's back up to a time before the all the fame and fortune. It's true that the family always had the potential to reach celebrity status. Kim used to work for Paris Hilton as her stylist. Kourtney was momentarily on a reality show called Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive. Their father, Robert Kardashian, was one of O.J. Simpson's lawyer and their stepfather was gold-medal-winning Olympian, Caitlyn, formerly Bruce, Jenner.

Most people would say Kim Kardashian was made famous because of her sex tape with Ray J. However at this point Kim's name was already starting to pop up in the tabloids for simply being friends with Paris Hilton. Kim used this to her advantage too and would purposely put herself in front of paparazzi. Once the sex tape was leaked, Kim Kardashian's celebrity quickly jumped. This could have very easily been a quick 15 minutes of fame. However, that's not how Kris Jenner and this family moves. Weather you agree with it or not, the family capitalized on this "opportunity."

Kris KNEW her family was entertaining. She was able to successfully pitch a reality show Ryan Secrest on E! and well, the rest is history. The show resonated so well with viewers because it provided plenty of laughs while playing off of the family's real-life drama. You can't deny Keeing Up With The Kardashians' success after being on the air for 14 years!

I think Kylie Jenner is also a really good example to look at. Kris made Kylie and Kendall start working while they were just young teens. And yes, while they did have way more resources than the average teenager, they were still involved in creating their own success from the start. Fast forward less than 10 years later and Kylie is named 'the world's youngest self-made billionaire' by Forbes Magazine. "Self-made" is very questionable term used here, I agree. But regardless this girl is a billionaire today. That didn't happen from her sitting around as a background character on her sisters' reality show. She actually put in some work capitalizing off her name.

The Kardashians/Jenner have been continuously building on their brands and keeping themselves relevant. Thanks to Kris, the girls became much more than just reality stars. From modeling gigs to brand partnerships, Jenner created real business opportunities for her daughters that just never seemed to stop coming until it was a full-on empire. That's why they are so famous. It's advanced public and business relations.
