The Morrison Center Earns a High Honor

Over 150,000 people attended an event last year at the Morrison Center, and 30,000 of us went to one of those events for free.

For the mix of events that cater to a whole lot of different cultural interests, the Morrison Center has earned a big honor, and it's got even bigger plans for the future.

Mayor David Bieter recently named the Morrison Center as a City of Boise Cultural Ambassador for the City of Boise.  That's an honorary designation that will highlight the Center for the rest of the world for a two-year term.

Boise State holds quite a few events at the Morrison Center, and said, "Boise State’s theatre arts, dance, music programs and more have access to the very best stage....[and] the Morrison Center continues to be a point of pride for our university, and we are thrilled with this recognition from the City of Boise.”

Last year the Morrison Center held a record 27 free events, and they're planning more for next season.  In all, the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts lived up to its name with more than 200 performing arts events that catered to kids, adults, dates, and girls-night-outs.

Oh, and one more high-five.  Boise State says the Morrison Center recently was ranked the No. 2 university venue in the nation for its size by Venues Today Magazine, is consistently ranked in the top 100 theaters for world-wide ticket sales by Pollstar Magazine, and is ranked No. 4 for “Top Stops in the Pacific Northwest.”
