The FDA Announces Hand Sanitizer Alert for 9 Products
Why are we just hearing about these now? The coronavirus took so many things off the shelves due to people just buying everything up. You couldn't find toilet paper, paper towels, certain spray products, and hand sanitizers.
This might be common sense to watch what you buy, but not if you don't know any better. The US Food and Drug Administration is telling Idahoans not to use certain hand sanitizers because of dangerous chemicals. That's good to know three months after consumers went nuts buying them all up.
The FDA asks you to stay away from hand sanitizers manufactured by Eskbiochem SA because of possibly toxic chemicals. Methanol has been found in hand sanitizers which could cause nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, and permanent nervous system problems that could cause death. These are all very serious. Here's the list below with a link for more information. If you currently have these hand sanitizers I would get rid of them now.
- All-Clean Hand Sanitizer
- Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer
- Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer
- The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizers
- Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer
I'm surprised these could be on the shelves if so harmful. Then again, people are using their products much more during coronavirus and potentially too much. CNN is reporting that the FDA has asked Eskbiochem SA to remove its products with no response.
