The City of Boise says they have close to $1 million in unpaid parking tickets.

After several years, the city has to write off all the outstanding fines.

There is only so much the city says they can do since they can't track everyone down and don't have leverage, they can’t revoke someone's driving privileges or anything like that.

Boise parking policy says that a vehicle can be towed when it is confirmed that the registered owner has an outstanding amount of unpaid fines for 30 days and total at least $200, or that person has five or more tickets.

They did say though that violations have gone down since the launch of the Parkmobile app. It shows you open spaces and you can add money to the meter from your phone so you don’t have to walk all the way back to your car to add change.

So, moral of the story, pay your parking tickets please!
