Blood banks are desperate for help as they report dangerously low numbers.

This is hard. Every day, the Red Cross says 7 people die in home fires and most of them are in homes that don’t have working smoke alarms. Volunteers in the Treasure Valley are going to change that, and there's still time to get involved and help save a life.

We've heard it too often in cases of a fatal fire. "There was no working smoke detector at the home." So how about we save some lives? The Red Cross is teaming up with firefighters to install smoke detectors in hundreds of Boise homes, and they need volunteers.

According to the American Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. A single car accident victim can require as man as 100 pints of blood. With all of the devastation in 2017, the need for blood was great - and it still is...
