Seahawks Get Five Prime-Time NFL Appearances
The most popular teams end up in the prime TV slots during the NFL season, and the Seahawks will get five prime-time games this fall.
The NFL announced the schedules last week, and the Seahawks will kick off the regular season on September 9th in Denver against the Broncos at 2:05 our time. After the season opening day game, there will be plenty of opportunities to catch the Seahawks on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday Night Football. In fact, they're near the top of the league for having the most prime-time appearances.
THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is simulcasting on Fox and NFL Network this fall, and on November 15 noisy fans in Seattle will try to drown out Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. I'm excited for that one. Thursday Night Football took some heat last season for having boring matchups, and it looks like they've kicked it up a notch.
NBC has SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL again this season and Seattle will be on twice. December 2nd it's the 49ers at the Seahawks, and on December 23rd when the season is winding down and everyone is talking about the playoffs, the Chiefs will be at Seahawks. Apparently Sunday Night Football likes covering the Seahawks at home, with the 12th Man gettin' rowdy.
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on ESPN will sound a little different this year now that Jon Gruden has decided to leave the announcing booth and move back into coaching with the Oakland Raiders job. On the field, the Seahawks will be at the Bears on Monday September 17th, and they'll play on Monday December 10 at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
If the prime-time schedule is any indication, there's an assumption that the Seahawks will be in the thick of the playoff race toward the end of the season and the networks want to make sure they're covering it. December is full of Seahawks' games in the national spotlight. Just bring on football! And snacks.
