Fireworks stands are officially open for business in the Treasure Valley!

And while they can be fun, we saw last year with the Table Rock fire, how devastating they can be if not handled responsibly.

A Roman candle was the cause of the scorched four square miles of foothills land and the reason one home burned to the ground.

Even though that one is an illegal firework, fire officials are urging Idahoans to use caution with any type of fireworks, even snakes and sparklers.

Accidentally starting a fire can land you in jail along with some pretty gnarly fines too!

So, here are a few reminders for you to stay safe this July 4th holiday.

  • Look at your surroundings before you light a firework. Stay away from dry grass, bushes, and trees, anything that could catch fire easily.
  • The Boise Foothills are completely off limits.
  • Don’t try to re-light a "dud"
  • Completely submerge all used fireworks in water

Fireworks can be sold and used through midnight on July 5.

Be safe out there guys!
